Pleasure deserves a broad horizon. Each of our senses serves as a gateway to the world. When all the senses are stimulated together, something truly unique is created, as experienced at the 2-star Lakeside restaurant located on the top floor of The Fontenay. The exquisite dishes created by star chef Julian Stowasser and his team are beautifully enhanced by the stunning view from the floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.
A large mirrored wall invites the light of the outside world to illuminate the room. The clarity of the space creates the Passepartout and sets the stage for the remarkable creations of the kitchen team. Lakeside, an elegant gourmet restaurant, welcomes up to 40 guests, with the option to rent a private dining room for ten separately. Let your gaze wander outside as you savor a gourmet menu in the warmth of great company.

Since March 2020, Julian Stowasser has been head chef at Lakeside.
Born in Freising, he has worked in numerous exciting places, including the Bareiss restaurant in Baiersbronn and a stint in Sydney at Tetsuya's restaurant. From 2012 to 2014, Stowasser worked as Chef de Partie at the Aqua restaurant in The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Wolfsburg. From 2014 to 2018, he was sous-chef at the Atelier restaurant in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, where he was awarded three stars under head chef Jan Hartwig. Together with his team, Julian Stowasser was awarded one star in the Michelin Guide in spring 2021. This was followed at the beginning of April 2023 by the award of two stars in the Michelin Guide.

Michel Buder

Host

For host Michel Buder and his team, genuine hospitality and natural warmth are essential for a successful restaurant experience. He believes this includes a reserved demeanor, professional service, and a constant presence that is attentive without being intrusive.
After training in the Harz Mountains, he worked at the Haerlin gourmet restaurant in the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg. He then moved on to the Résidence restaurant in Essen. Michel gained further experience as a sommelier at Gutshof Stolpe in Stolpe and at Strandhotel Dünenmeer on the Darß, where he also served as a restaurant manager.
Since the opening of The Fontenay, the Lusatian-born chef has ensured that guests at Lakeside feel at ease. In 2020, The Great Restaurant & Hotel Guide honored him and his team with the “Service of the Year” award.
