Hamburg, im Oktober 2026 - Strahlende Kürbisgesichter, heißer Punsch und der Blick auf die herbstliche Außenalster: Am 30. und 31. Oktober wird es rund um das The Fontenay stimmungsvoll schaurig. Auf der Grünfläche vor dem Parkview Restaurant entsteht für zwei Tage ein leuchtendes Kürbisfeld – mit über 200 individuell geschnitzten Kürbissen, die vorab von den Mitarbeitenden des Hauses gestaltet werden.

Hamburg, Juni 2026 - Im Hotel The Fontenay an der Hamburger Außenalster gehen Architektur und Natur fließend ineinander über – geprägt von organischen Formen, Licht und offenen Perspektiven. Diese gestalterische Idee setzt sich in der Floristik des Hauses konsequent fort: Mit feinem Gespür für Raum, Saison und Atmosphäre entwickelt die hoteleigene Floristin Anja Stöwer Arrangements, die die geschwungene Architektur subtil aufnehmen und den Charakter des Hauses auf kreative Weise ergänzen. Blumen begleiten die Gäste durch das gesamte Hotel und sind ein lebendiger Teil des Interior Designs – mal zurückhaltend und leicht, mal skulptural und ausdrucksstark.

Während sich draußen ein beeindruckender 320° Blick über die Außenalster und die Hamburger Skyline öffnet, entstehen im Glas vielschichtige Kompositionen, die Fernweh wecken.

Hamburg, Mai 2026 - Große Erfolge für den Nachwuchs des Hamburger Luxushotels The Fontenay: Gleich zwei Auszubildende des Hauses wurden in den vergangenen Wochen bei renommierten Wettbewerben ausgezeichnet und erreichten jeweils den ersten Platz.

Hamburg, February 2026 - Even though spring is still a long way off in meteorological terms, guests at The Fontenay can already get a taste of the long-awaited season. The spring edition of the popular Tea Time begins on 19 February, featuring fresh flavours, delicate textures and an elegant lightness. It also showcases the signature style of the new yet well-known head pastry chef Mike Kainz. He has been deputy head pastry chef at The Fontenay for eight years and is now taking on overall responsibility.

Hamburg, January 2026 - A special evening for Germany's top hotels: On January 20, Thies Sponholz, managing director of The Fontenay, was honored with the prestigious title of “Hotelier of the Year” at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz. With this award, ahgz (Allgemeine Hotel- und Gastronomie-Zeitung) – the leading media outlet for the hotel industry and affiliated gastronomy in Germany – and the dfv media group recognized his entrepreneurial achievements and his lasting influence on the development of the German luxury hotel industry.

International Awards for The Fontenay

Hamburg, October 2025 - The Fontenay was awarded two of the most prestigious international prizes this week: on October 7, the five-star hotel on Hamburg's Außenalster lake was named No. 1 in Northern Europe in the World Hotels category at the Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards. Just one day later, at the festive premiere of the Michelin Keys in Paris, the hotel received the coveted highest rating of three keys – another milestone in the hotel's success story.

Hamburg, April 2025 – At yesterday's Falstaff HOTELGUIDE awards ceremony in Vienna, The Fontenay in Hamburg was once again named Germany's best hotel and also the best city hotel. The Fontenay scored 100 out of a possible 100 points. In all In all categories (ambience, rooms, wellness, service, cuisine, and location), the Hamburg luxury hotel was awarded the full number of points.

Hamburg, April 2025 - Benvenuti! On April 2, 2025, a new gastronomic highlight of the luxury hotel The Fontenay will welcome its first guests. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, at Badestraße 10, The Fontenay is opening “Osteria due”, an uncomplicated Italian restaurant with an authentically stylish atmosphere.
