It has been exactly four years since exciting news sent waves through the classical music world: Klaus Mäkelä was announced as the future Chief Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, with his official tenure beginning in autumn 2027. Still only in his mid-twenties when the prestigious offer was made, the Finnish rising star did not have to think twice. Amsterdam had long been one of his artistic dream destinations.
