Elbphilharmonie, Great Hall

It has been exactly four years since exciting news sent waves through the classical music world: Klaus Mäkelä was announced as the future Chief Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, with his official tenure beginning in autumn 2027. Still only in his mid-twenties when the prestigious offer was made, the Finnish rising star did not have to think twice. Amsterdam had long been one of his artistic dream destinations. "The Concertgebouw Orchestra possesses one of the rarest, most unique, and most distinctive sound identities in the world", enthuses Mäkelä. As Artistic Partner in recent years, he has had the opportunity to build a close and meaningful relationship with "his" Dutch orchestra. Now, in Gustav Mahler's profound Symphony No. 7, Hamburg audiences can once again experience the chemistry between this celebrated conductor and the renowned orchestra. Spoiler alert: the partnership is marked by both electrifying energy and exceptional harmony.
